Many people wait for a lifetime to experience a life-changing event similar to that which Kelly Clarkson experienced exactly two years ago.
On Sunday, the very first "American Idol" winner commemorated the anniversary in a special way by sharing an emotional post that was shared on Instagram.
"20 years ago today I won American Idol and it forever changed the course of my life," the superstar vocalist --
who went on to win the reality-TV singing competition to win three Grammy Awards -- began her blog post.
"That moment opened the door that gave me numerous opportunities for access and participation and creative partnerships I'll be thankful for throughout my life.
My family and the friendships I've built over these 20 years in the world of music and on television are priceless for my family and friends," the "Kelly Clarkson Show" host, who is 40 said.
While it's true that the "Since U Been Gone" singer is "abundantly blessed" for the "successes and failures"
she's faced since 2002, she's "most proud [of] and grateful for" the people whom she considers to "have become family."
A newly separated mom of two decided to express her gratitude to those who are special "for their arms that have held [her] when [she] needed it and their hearts that listened to [her]
